What are molecular sieves?

Molecular sieves are synthetic zeolites with uniform pore sizes that selectively adsorb molecules by size and polarity. Common grades include 3A, 4A, 5A and 13X, each named for its approximate pore opening (≈3–10 Å). They’re widely used to dry gases and liquids, remove CO2/H2S, and purify process streams. Sieves are regenerable by heating or purging, making them reusable in PSA/TSA systems.
